We’re here to help you fix issues, but in many cases the best person when it comes to resolving your computer/IT/system issues is the person sitting in front of the computer – you!

So before you give up on your own ability to resolve the issues, following this simple checklist.

Is the problem repeatable?

In many cases an issue that has never happened to you before is nothing more than a glitch. Simply it has happened and it may never happen again.  However if it is repeatable, it will be very helpful if you can identify the specific steps that occur to produce the issue/problem/glitch.

Is the problem occurring on all machines or just your own?

Sometimes one machine has an issue which is quite unique on the network but others are unaffected.  This can be quite useful when determining issues.

Is the problem occurring in all files/databases/companies?

It may be a spreadsheet of an accounting company, but does the issue occur in the program or in the data?  If you try a different spreadsheet for example, can you reproduce the same problem?  If it’s an accounting package does the same issue occur in the demo or sample company?

What has changed?

In many situations the cause of a problem is when something else changes.  Even though you may not be aware of any changes, your system is more than likely updating automatically on a daily basis

Latest software releases

As always with support for your product, the best approach is always to ensure that you have the latest version of the software at all times. This is because in many instances in the unlikely event that you do come across an actual issue in the software, it may well have already been discovered, documented, and resolved. Thus being on the latest version of the software will often resolve issue before you are even aware of them.
